PHYSICAL THERAPY AND COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES
FAQs
As always, contact us with any further questions at any time.
Do I need to be injured to come to physical therapy? No! If you are not presently injured but have pain or a desire to improve your physical performance on the field, at work, home or out in the community, we are here to help. A doctor of physical therapy will analyze your movement patterns and create an individualized plan to help you excel. Of course if you are injured we will help with the healing process, pain relief, rehabilitation and getting you back to full function as soon as possible.
Do I need a referral from my doctor before I start PT? No. Massachusetts is a “direct access” state. That means you can see a Doctor of Physical Therapy for evaluation and subsequent treatments without first seeing a medical doctor for a referral. You can make however many appointments you want, when you want.
Do you take insurance as payment? While we do not have any formal relationships with insurance companies right now, if your insurance policy has out-of-network benefits we can assist you in the necessary steps to submit for insurance reimbursement. We do accept HSA/FSA funds. By utilizing this model of care, your treatments are not limited by the rules and regulations set in place by insurance companies. Get better results while likely saving more time and money in the long run. You and your physical therapist are in charge, working together every step of the way.
How many appointments will I need? It depends! There is no cookie-cutter approach to your health! You AND your physical therapist will come up with a treatment plan that best suites you and your needs.
What can I expect during a session? Expect a variety! Depending on your treatment plan, sessions typically include (but are not limited to), pain relief modalities, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education/balance training, and sport/function specific training. Please wear something that you can comfortable move around in.
Is there anything I should do at home in between my PT sessions? Yes! Your physical therapist will come up with a specific, individualized program for you to complete between sessions. This maximizes your time throughout the week and maximizes effectiveness of scheduled sessions.
